Life in the Garage

Happy Holidays everyone!!!
I wanted to start today's blog off with wishing all of you Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday.

So it all started with a car ride. Little did I know that this car ride would end up with me staying in a garage for an eternity. Ok ok, it was only Saturday night thru Tuesday afternoon, but seriously where is the humanity. I made sure to voice my opinion on this matter for a good 2 days. It was terrible - no couch to snooze on or TV to watch my favorite shows. However, there was a cat...a black cat. She was not very pleased that I was visiting. She'll probably blog about this...(Ebbyskingdom.blogspot.com).

So for Christmas, I made out pretty well. I got 2 new huge raw-hide bones, some milk bones, and new dragon toy. You know who you are, and thank you for the gifts!:)

Julie's uncle and 2 cousins came to the shindig to celebrate the holiday and go sledding. While sledding I was concerned about the speed of the sleds. To regulate this, I would chase the person on the sled down the hill and either grab the sled or the person to make them go faster or slow down. I think it worked. I'm very tired today.

Today's fun fact: Us newfs love to play in snow...almost, but not quite as much as water!

Cake Shake Anonymous (CSA)

Hello, my name is Cabo and I am addicted to cake shakes. I have been clean for about 3 days now. I'm opening up to you today because I have come to the realization that I have a problem.

Now I must confess, I've never really even had a cake shake before, but that's not the point today. Ahhhh cake shake. There is just something about the way they smell that makes me go crazy--almost like when I see a squirrel. Yum!....

Anyways. I apologize for my lack of blog motivation lately. I decided to take a little break from the technology world and to embrace my surroundings and appreciate the little things in life... like:
barking, cake shakes, terrorizing Moe, destruction of all squirrel and squirrel related creatures, water, cat treats, glass licking and helping Julie wrap Christmas presents.

Here are some interesting dog facts for you!

1. When it comes to humans, fingerprints play a major role in identification. Did you know that my nose print is as unique as your fingerprint?
2. On average, at least 70% of people all over the world sign their dog's name on a greeting cards along with the rest of the family.:)
3. We were one of the first animals to be domesticated by man. This happened about 12,000 years ago.
4. My body contains 319-321 bones.

While Julie was gone...

Last week was Thanksgiving. Julie left me, again. <Sigh>

I really didn’t think she was coming back this time, but she did! She left to go visit family in Canada (where I originate from).

On the plus side, I had a bunch of visitors! I got to see my Steph and Chris! I love when they visit! Especially when Chris comes over, because he mushes my face!

I also spent some time with Danny! He watched me for the duration of Julie’s absence. It was awesome! We stalked squirrel together. Took naps. Watched football all the time! Took more naps.  Oh yeah, the FIGHTING IRISH won! WOOT!!!

I finally was starting to adjust to this new routine, and then Danny and I went for a car ride. I had my head out the window enjoying the awesome breeze and Chicago smells, then all of sudden we were at the airport and there Julie was. I was so excited I could pee, but I didn’t. I was super excited for about 5 minutes until I remembered how upset I was about her leaving me. I ignored her for the rest of the night.

Today I will leave you with some interesting facts about famous Newfoundlands.
We are pretty bad-ass! (Information provided by Wikipedia)

New Apartment! Sweet....

Hello.
This past weekend flew by. Julie was home (for once) and it was awesome! I got to wake her up bright and early everyday... just because I can:).

Danny came over just to see me! We played tug-tug with one of my favorite toys. I wiped some of my awesome drool on him when he wasn't looking. I win!

GO IRISH! They need one, single victory in LA to have the chance to capture their first title since 1988. Woot! And the Packers won too;)

Anyways, let me tell you about this new place. There is sooo much room! I can chase Moe, look out windows and sleep wherever I want! There's even a backyard where I can roam unleashed! Awesome!!!

The windows are cool because I can see airplanes and SQUIRRELS. Sometimes Moe will get caught up in staring out the window and that's when I sneak attack her. She freaks out. It's great!

Thanksgiving is almost here. I can't wait! I like me some turkey! Mix it up on the dry food. Om nom nom....

Fun fact of the day:
Today in history (1863), Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address at the dedication of the national cemetery on the Civil War battlefield of Gettysburg, Pa.

Bring on the snow!!!

It's been a hot minute since I last posted. Let me catch you up to speed with the past few days...

Sunday--ahhhh Sunday:). Who doesn't love a day when you can lay around the house and watch football all day long! LOVE IT!!! Occasionally, I'd get up and patrol the house...check the windows and make sure those damn squirrels weren’t up to anything silly. Blast'd squirrels...

Devil cat....I mean Moe, took a good swipe at me Saturday night when I was lovingly sniffing her. She left a claw in my fur between my eyes--Julie didn't find it until late Sunday morning when we were playing tug-tug with my favorite octopus toy.....it's tar-heel blue:)

Go ahead and ask. I know you want to!;)

I know I make Moe sound like a terrible housemate. She really isn't that bad. We are cool with each other when Julie is gone. We hang out and take naps, plot vengeance on all squirrels/rodents, scheme solid ways on how to increase our treat intake - but as soon as Julie gets home, we act like we despise each other. She has no idea. hahaha (maniacal laugh)...

So the picture above is from this summer at the puppy beach on Lakeshore Drive in Chicago. We had to dry-off before the car ride home. That place is AWESOME! Endless WATER, no leash, friends to play with, toys to steal (I like to catch other dogs toys then drop them out in the water and walk away like nothing happened..that's how I roll.) Anyways, I was reminiscing over the hot summer because yesterday, the weather finally became Newfie weather! I thought this heat wave was never going to end. Now I can walk comfortably outside and maybe even go for a nice jog without passing out from heat exhaustion! Bring on the snow!!!!!

Fun fact of the day: This may answer your question...
It is a myth that dogs are color blind. We can actually see in color, just not as vividly as you humans. It is akin to your vision at dusk. True story.

What a change a day makes...

As you all know, or should have known, yesterday was my 4th birthday. I celebrated Gangnam style with a massive raw-hide bone (from Danny) and some beer.

Btw, I don't drink beer often, but when I do... I choose Dos Equis. I AM THE MOST INTERESTING DOG IN THE WORLD.

My raw-hide bone was exquisite. I had to stand guard all night because of Moe - the psycho cat. She wanted it. What-fore,  I'm not sure - she might be a Russian spy.  I also had to protect Danny. She attacked him earlier in the evening. I had to show him my appreciation for the birthday raw-hide.

After a long night of partying, I woke up not feeling so hot...probably too much raw-hide...totally worth it though. I took my morning walk, drank some water, like only us Newfies know, then ate some pure awesomeness - aka Nutro Natural Choice Venison Meal & Whole Brown Rice...Om nom nom.

Julie left me... forever, or it seemed like forever. Moe and I had to hold the fort down from those evil squirrels lurking outside. Julie and Danny had football out near Sheboygan, Wis. for some all-star game. I think they won, 28-7. Julie kicks field goals and pats....She went 4/4 pats, and Danny had 1 touchdown...or so I gathered from their conversation on my nightly walk.

Sleepy time. I will leave you with 1 fun fact:
Today (11/10) in 1940 - the Jeep made its debut.

Hello World!!!

I am Cabo!
I am a Newfie. Today I turn 4 years old (which is about 33). I live a fun, interesting life with Moe - a psycho cat and Julie - my owner.

To kick-off this blog...I will leave you with some fun facts:
